Artist Statement: As a native Brooklynite, my multifaceted art has always reflected this. Urban themes are consistent throughout my work in painting, pen and ink, printmaking, comic book-making and even my tattooing. Combining music and art and bringing it to the public is as New York as it gets. Whether the art on the piano attracts the viewer and the music makes them stay to enjoy both or the other way around, I am here for it and proud to be a small part of all the great things Sing For Hope does and to help celebrate 25 years of it.
I was born and raised in South Brooklyn. I studied at The Art Students League, The High School of Music and Art, and the Rhode Island School of Design. While studying Illustration I became attracted to many mediums and still work in a variety of mediums today. Whether working in acrylics, pen and ink, silk screen, comic book-making, and even in my tattooing, themes of urban iconography are consistent throughout. In 1991 I founded the Urban Folk Art® Studios' artist collective and in 2002 I co-founded Brooklyn Tattoo®, both are still active today. I currently make art in my Red Hook studio.
