Artist Statement: The Music Between Us is a celebration of music and the connection it brings, transforming the piano from an instrument into a gathering place where strangers can connect in shared public spaces. This work honors music not just as performance, but as an exchange between people and a reminder that music has the power to bridge differences, create belonging, and reveal connection in the simplest of moments.
Irene Vandian is a versatile fine artist who specializes in a variety of mediums. She received her Master of Fine Arts in 1988 and has maintained a long standing studio practice rooted in exploration and visual storytelling. She has participated in numerous exhibitions and has received several awards for her work in painting and mixed media. Irene is a New Yorker whose work is continually shaped by the city's energy, movement, and layered histories.
