Jess Fong and Esette Negussie met as students at Johns Hopkins University. United by a love for drawing and painting, they decided on a whim to apply to paint a piano, and spent their entire sophomore spring break in the Sing for Hope studio working on it. The theme of their piano is "Our Universal Language", incorporating elements from various disciplines that are "universal" across humanity: the arts, music, math, and science. The piano features a spiral galaxy (measured out in a perfect Fibonacci spiral), our stars and planets, and the sheet music for "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."
