About the Piano
My piano design is influenced by the various forms of graffiti and street art that I interact with in New York City on a daily basis. The dynamic, lively and vivid quality of the murals, wheat pastes, tags, and throw ups that I encounter have influenced my artistic vision, in that I wanted to create a design that captured the animated nature of the NYC. I would like my piano to catch the eye of pedestrians across the street, as well as make passerbys stop to take a second look because of its bold use of color, vibrancy and energy.

Made up of many different sections and moving parts, this city is chaotic and in constant motion. My piano consists of many layers of paint that I have carved, scraped and sculpted through to create a sense of motion, vitality, and change.

About the Artist
Evan Lorberbaum is a visual artist who paints under the moniker ELO. While attending NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, his area of concentration was The Business of Art/Entrepreneurship. ELO’s style and artistic vision is influenced by graffiti, as well as the Abstract Expressionist movement of the 1940′s. He is inspired by his modern day role models: Jay Z, Shepard Fairey, Marc Ecko, KAWS and Pharrell among others, and is establishing himself as his own personal brand while blending the lines between art, fashion and merchandising. His work has been featured in numerous restaurants, exhibitions and galleries in New York City. Some of his collectors include Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz, Actor/R&B singer Mack Wilds and rapper Prodigy of Mobb Deep. ELO was selected as one of the 20 New York regional semi-finalists in the 2014 Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series. In early 2016 he was awarded a two month solo exhibition at the prestigious Citigroup Center, which was co-sponsored by real estate investment trust Boston Properties and the Midtowns Arts Common.
