Heart & Soul
Raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico by Italian-born parents, I grew up fascinated by language, translation, and the expression of culture. The granddaughter of a poet, I use text as a means of play. My academic background in history & law has informed my artistic practice, inviting explorations of speech in flux, collective memory, and the relationship between individuality and universality/community. My work as an artist seeks to uncover possibility, to honor the boldness of sincerity, and to create space for wonder, discovery, and common ground. This is my third Sing for Hope piano, along with the five student pianos that I have facilitated as a proud Sing for Hope volunteer. This piano was created through the efforts of many. I'm grateful to each & every one of you.

Every inch of this piano is covered in one word, repeated. At times appearing bold and overflowing, other times quiet and compelling a closer look, the words envelop the piano, conveying the universality and boundlessness of love. The movement of the piano hammers is reminiscent of a vintage typewriter, as visitors are invited to add their own expressions of love to what will become a collective love letter along the back surface of the piano.
