A special thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate the fifth year of The Sing for Hope Pianos in New York City at our day-long launch event at Lower Manhattan’s iconic 28 Liberty Plaza on June 6th All 50 of The 2016 Sing for Hope Pianos — each a unique work of art — were assembled on 28 Liberty Plaza for all to play and enjoy for one glorious day before they went out to the streets of all five boroughs from June 9-19.
As part of the celebration, international singing star and Tony Award winning actress LEA SALONGA was presented with the Sing for Hope Art for All Award for her dedication to inspiring young people with the gift of music throughout her career. Other stars sharing their performances included two-time Tony Award and Drama Desk nominee DAPHNE RUBIN-VEGA, the dynamic piano duo ANDERSON & ROE, cast members from ON SITE OPERA‘s acclaimed Figaro Trilogy, saxophonist/composer TED NASH/Presidential Suite, singer-songwriter PETE MULLER, rising stars Jessica Fishenfeld & Stephanie Lauricella from OPERA DIVA DRESS COLLECTION, MANHATTAN GIRLS’ CHORUS, BLAKE WHYTE, TONY DESARE, Sylvana Joyce and Sean-David Cunningham of SYLVANA JOYCE & THE MOMENT, FABIO TEDDE and YOUNG MUSICIANS FROM SING FOR HOPE’S YOUTH PROGRAMS. At 5pm, a special performance of Bach’s Prelude in CÂ was performed by 50 Volunteer Artists on all 50 Sing for Hope Pianos.
