About Sing for Hope’s Healing Arts Hospital Outreach Program
Sing for Hope’s Healing Arts program brings live performance to patients and care-givers in healthcare facilities. Public concerts and bedside performances by Volunteer Artists are tailored to patient and community needs, providing uplift and complementing the healing process.
Currently, Healing Arts provides uplifting performances and workshops at facilities including:
- Coler-Goldwater Hospital
- St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital
- The Mount Sinai Medical Center – Healing Arts Concert Series
- Palliative Care Unit at Mount Sinai Medical Center
- NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases
- Omega House AIDS Hospice
Studies have shown that music in the hospital setting can:
- Reduce blood pressure and heart and respiration rates
- Decrease pain perception and levels of fear, stress and anxiety
- Increase feelings of self-worth and overall well-being
- Increase sense of control in situations that may feel depersonalizing or outside of one’s control *
Sing for Hope’s Healing Arts hospital outreach program provides the gift of music, complementing the healing process and providing entertainment and uplift for patients, families, and caregivers.
